The Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC) will provide benefits planning, assistance and outreach to Social Security Administration (SSA) beneficiaries with disabilities and their key stakeholders. Duties include, but are not limited to: evaluating data regarding the beneficiary's current status, conducting ongoing outreach to SSA beneficiaries with disabilities, their families, advocacy groups, service provider agencies and other stakeholders taking into account the needs of individuals from traditionally underserved groups, (i.e., individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and transition-to-work youth), offer presentations to underserved groups to engage beneficiaries, identity and gather information pertaining to the current and ongoing status of SSA beneficiaries to be served, etc. This position will primarily work out of their home, but will be required to attend meetings/trainings at other locations in Central Indiana.
CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's degree in a related human service field from a college/university accredited by the US Department of Education strongly preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a certified benefits and work incentives counselor through an accredited State or National program, and background interfacing with SSA and other entitlement agencies required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted if knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties as prescribed are present
- CWIC training required; must attain certification within 120 days of hire date
- Must be able to meet Level 5 Federal Security Clearance guidelines for employment
